Nisia Thornton Appointed Executive Council of National Federation of Stonewall Democrats

FRANKFORT, KY – In the spirit of true American patriotism and the fight for equal rights that we honor on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the LGBTQIA Caucus for Kentucky Democrats is proud to announce that our Chair, Nisia Thornton, has been appointed to the Executive Council of the newly formed National Federation of Stonewall Democrats. This landmark organization unites LGBTQ+ leaders from 21 states. Their goal is to amplify the voices of 19 million LGBTQ+ Americans. They work to advance equality for ALL within the Democratic Party and beyond.
This appointment is a significant milestone for Kentucky’s LGBTQIA Caucus. It’s an honor to represent Kentucky on the national stage. We work to protect and expand LGBTQ+ rights. Together, we’ll guarantee our community’s voices are heard and our progress preserved.

Thornton’s leadership has been vital in promoting LGBTQ+ visibility and advocacy within Kentucky’s Democratic Party. As the founding Chair, Thornton was instrumental in getting the LGBTQIA Council for Kentucky Democrats chartered. Now, as part of the National Federation’s Executive Council, Thornton will work closely with leaders across the country. They will develop strategies that focus on inclusivity, equality, and representation within the Democratic Party.

The National Federation of Stonewall Democrats strives to unite LGBTQ+ advocates across the United States.
