Berea PRIDE’s annual Royalty Pageant is an intentionally gender-non-specific drag pageant, first hosted at the Historical Boone Tavern in Berea, Kentucky. The small artist town of Berea lays nestled in central Kentucky. Many queer artists have called the postcard town home, including national icons like Bell Hooks and Silas House.
Berea had a long-standing need for a safe scene for drag artists. This need was recognized by our very first Berea Royalty, Viktor Diamond and Koko in 2022. Viktor and Koko were our honorary nominees and paved the way for our very first annual Royalty Pageant.
Berea PRIDE hosted its first official Royalty Pageant on September 29th,2023.It was a truly historic show, hosted by our proud allies’ venue, The Historic Boone Tavern.
